It is a tradition in our family to have a choice of breakfast on your birthday. I have 6-year-old twins that were born on Valentine’s Day. Because of the storm and subsequent power outage I had little special to offer them. We drove to the Standish Dunkin’ Donuts hoping for some goodies. I also have two other children and trying to keep track of them all failed to notice that the window sign “Cash Only.”
Murphy’s Law, I was a bit shy with still my coffee to order. I was telling the clerk to forgo my drink and I would make the twins share. Two older men listening behind me insisted I let the twins get their drinks and I needed a coffee. The clerk was also amazed. One handed me a $10 bill and had the twins keep the change, he was adamant they keep it, I tried twice to return it.
Can you imagine, strangers so generous and kind? On my way home I saw a dad and two little boys stuck on ice in their car. You better believe I stopped and helped to get them out. Imagine if more random acts of kindness like this were done!
