Police Notes for April 18, 2008


Gorham:

FIERY SITUATION

A caller reported to police the engine compartment of a vehicle on Ossipee Trail had caught on fire. The fire department arrived and the vehicle was towed afted the fire was extinguished.


LAWN JUNKIE

A Naragansett Street resident reported finding a syringe and a spoon on their front lawn.


TOW BOAT

An Ossipee Trail resident reported a friend’s boat was parked in their yard and the friend refused to move it. The home owner was vacating the house within the next few days and needed to have the boat moved before the sale closing date. The homeowner was told they could have the boat towed at the boat owner’s expense.


SCHOOL BLUES

A call received from Morill Avenue reported a musical instrument had been stolen from the music room.


LAWN SITTER

A Daniel Street resident reported a neighbor’s dog was going to the bathroom on their lawn.


NO VIOLATION

A Wood Road resident reported a large cement truck was traveling on a posted road. No violation at this time because of the temperature – outside temperature must be above 32 degrees to be in violation.


SCHOOL BLUES

A caller reported two youths bending a school sign. The kids parents were notified and would address the issue, police said.


SCHOOL BLUES

TOO LOUD

A Robie Street caller reported a man was creating a verbal disturbance. Police warned the person against any further outbursts.


SHORT CHANGED

A resident on New Portland Road reported their home had been broken into and several change jars were missing.


GOOSED

An Ossipee Trail resident reported a neighbor’s geese trespassing on their property.


Buxton:

SHOPLIFTING

A person was caught shoplifting at Hannaford. They were issued a criminal trespass warning and are not allowed to return to store for one year. Hannaford did not wish to press charges.


BAD DRIVER

A vehicle on Narragansett Trail initially would not pull over for police. The person finally pulled over and was warned for erratic operation, no proof of insurance and warning for texting while driving.


UNLUCKY DUCKY

A Cousins Road resident called police to say they had found a small duck with an injured leg on the side of the road. An officer took the duck to David Sparks of Sparks’ Ark in Windham. Sparks rehabilitates injured wildlife.
